Here's what WPSA has to offer:
• Meetings in a centrally located area of the state held once every three months. These conferences include up-to-date issues and informed speakers addressing issues of concern in a relaxed setting.
• A gathering of professionals, employees, and consumers all striving to understand and improve the quality of home care in the state
• Membership on the Long Term Care Reform Council
• Membership on the Department of Health and Family Services Home Care Advisory Committee
• Responsible for the many changes to the revised MAPC Handbook, including new rulings on documentation, nursing supervision, travel time, and training issues.
• Legislative representation and updates on related issues
• Retention of an attorney, Burt Wagner; and a professional Lobbyist, Michael Blumenfeld
• Representation to advocacy forums through the Survival Coalition
Now is the time to consider membership in the only state organization, Wisconsin Personal Care Association (WPSA), representing the interests of personal care providers, consumers, counties, and personal care sub-contractors. WPSA members are leaders in the field of providing quality care to the consumers they serve. WPSA members are joined together to unite, educate, advocate and promote consumer-focused home and Medical Assistance Personal Care services on a statewide basis.
WPSA led the initiative to increase the MAPC rate $3.25. The WPSA Legislative Committee met almost weekly to discuss issues, formulate plans, and put plans of action into positive results. Membership on the Department of Health and Family Services Home Care Advisory Committee will result in changes to the archaic personal care rules. Because of WPSA's strong position, WPSA is now represented on the State of Wisconsin Long Term Care Reform Council.
WPSA, along with the WPSA attorney, Burt Wagner, and WPSA lobbyist, Michael Blumenfeld, have been instrumental in leading the fight against the unfair audits. Rules and regulations, and new policies not in keeping with the WPSA philosophy, have been negotiated and disputed. WPSA has become a strong leader in the fight for a consumer driven personal care initiative. WPSA is responsible for the many changes to the revised MAPC Handbook, including new rulings on documentation, nursing supervision, travel time, and training issues.

WPSA has many upcoming issues targeted for the near future. These include the fight against licensing of Personal Care Agencies and the large fees proposed, a joint task force looking at how Family Care affects personal care issues, and the continuing audit problem. We need you as members, and you need WPSA so you can truly be represented in the future of long-term care.
